Mareterra – Eco Development on Monaco Seafront

I wanted this new area to embody the excellence and conviviality which distinguish the Principality of Monaco so well. Mareterra will integrate perfectly with our shoreline, and in a few years will be seen as a natural extension of our territory.” Prince Albert

Mareterra is a feat of engineering, culminating in the collaborative efforts of the Monegasque government with leading design & architecture specialists such as Michel Desvigne Paysagiste, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Valode & Pistre Architects. The project will see the reclamation of up to 6 hectares of land from the sea. The new neighbourhood will boast villas, apartments, penthouses, shops, a public park, and a small port. Research from the realty giant Knight Frank concluded that homes in the Mareterra neighbourhood development could retail from upward of €100,000 per square metre.

The neighbourhood development is well underway and hopes to be completed in full by the year 2024. Property is already being snapped up by investors and ex-pats alike. This is in part due to the incredibly high demand for cutting-edge luxury property in the Principality. The micro-nation has been making strides to combat the housing shortages in the enclave. With more and more developments getting the green light. This hunger for property development is driven by the high net-worth individuals seeking to flock to sunnier and safer climates.

Conceptual renders of the development showcase designed spaces that are sympathetic to their contemporary backdrops. Apartments and villas are designed with neutral and subdued colour schemes, and the architecture of these spaces is contemporary. Clean lines and strong high-end materials tie the design together. The villas and apartments are shown decorated and furnished to an impeccably high level of attention to detail. Homes such as the ones located in Mareterra command an elegant and refined interior design.

There are several different residential zones in the development. Firstly is Le Renzo, which consists of a luxury park front development that boasts incredible sea views. Next is the semi high-rise-style condos and apartments called Les Jardins d’Eau. An exciting element of the development is the private villas, known as Les Villas, a collection of private homes with swimming pools, private gardens, and other recreational activities. Finally are the townhouses, this eco green space blends into the parklands thanks to its hanging gardens and garden city aesthetic.
