Earlier this season, the Luxoria team had the privilege of stepping behind the scenes at Le Lit National\u2019s<\/em> Parisian workshop\u2014a rare and intimate look at the craftsmanship, care, and history that goes into every made-to-measure piece. What we witnessed wasn\u2019t merely the making of furniture, but the continuation of a legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded by master upholsterer Georges Gauthier, Le Lit National<\/em> was conceived with one mission: to offer unparalleled comfort through artisanal excellence. Over a century later, that ethos still defines the brand. Each mattress, base, and headboard is crafted in France using traditional methods\u2014no shortcuts, no mass production. Horseshoe nails, hand-tufting, and layers of natural materials (including horsehair, wool, and cotton) are all part of the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the First World War, Le Lit National<\/em> was entrusted with the production of beds for French military hospitals\u2014a testament not only to their quality but also their national significance. We were particularly struck by the hand-tufting process, where each mattress is tied, stitch by stitch, to ensure even support and ventilation. This attention to detail might seem invisible to the naked eye, but it\u2019s exactly what elevates these pieces to heirloom status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fun discovery? The company still keeps antique bed springs on-site\u2014not as decoration, but as reference tools. They serve as a quiet reminder of how far the brand has come while remaining anchored in its roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
