The Verdun Project: A Contemporary Apartment Renovation in Nice

residential

Brief

Located within a 1930s building in central Nice, the Verdun project is a complete apartment renovation that brings contemporary living into conversation with the character of the existing architecture.

Now underway, the project has been designed around a considered palette of rich walnut, expressive natural stone, marble and warm metallic finishes. Original architectural proportions provide the framework, while bespoke joinery, integrated storage and carefully selected materials give the interiors a distinct identity.

The kitchen will serve as a central feature of the apartment, combining curved forms, concealed storage and custom display cabinetry. In the bathrooms, dramatic veined stone will sit alongside fluted glass and brushed metal, balancing visual impact with a softer approach to light and privacy. The bedrooms will take a more restrained direction, with muted tones and tailored joinery allowing the architecture and materials to speak for themselves.

A significant part of the renovation is the transformation of the rooftop into an outdoor living space. Designed as an extension of the apartment, it will create additional space for relaxing and entertaining while remaining sympathetic to the building’s architectural character.

The renders presented here offer a preview of the proposed design and the direction of the finished interiors. As construction progresses, the project will take shape beyond the visualisations, bringing together the materials, detailing and craftsmanship specified for the space.

Verdun reflects Luxoria Interiors’ approach to renovation: retaining the qualities that give a property its identity while introducing contemporary planning and carefully resolved details.
